About Availis and Shea Eugene
For the last 8 years I have worked full-time for software companies performing technical support, training, documentation, database design and web development. During that time I have had many requests from people seeking help with their web projects and so I began freelancing on the side. As a one-person sole proprietorship I am able to use the skills and talents I have developed to help small companies with small budgets make the most of their web presence.
Before entering computer technology as a career, I was a professional window cleaner for 12 years. I worked for a small service company and also ran my own. While window cleaning and web development may appear to have little in common, this experience proves valuable to my clients today because I gained a solid understanding of customer service and what it takes to build and retain a loyal customer base. I also have insight into the common struggles of operating a small service industry business - how to promote and grow this type of company.
I created the name Availis for myself because I wanted to use my skills to help small service business to win on the web. The root of the idea is avail - to win or have victory. I thought..."How would you title a person who helps other people avail?" I coined a term - "An Availist" would be one who helps others advance.
